We worked with Big Box, a San Diego-based storage company, to modernize its website while maintaining the SEO juice they had worked hard to create over the years.
The Challenge
Big Box, a San Diego-based storage company, came to us with a technical need: migrate their outdated Drupal website to a modern platform. But what we uncovered went deeper. Their digital presence wasn’t just behind on updates — it wasn’t telling the full story of who Big Box had become. Performance issues, clunky navigation, and dated messaging were not reflecting the energy and momentum of their growing business.
It became clear: Big Box didn’t just need a new website. They needed a new digital identity.
Our Objectives
While the initial brief focused on technical necessities, our strategic lens expanded the mission:
- Migrate the site from Drupal to WordPress while protecting hard-earned SEO equity
- Resolve backend performance and security issues
- Rebuild the user journey to drive more conversions (form fills, quote requests, phone calls)
- Refresh the brand’s voice, visual identity, and positioning for the next chapter of growth—in other words, bring in the “sunny vibes” of Big Box’s San Diego locale
- Empower their internal team with a maintainable, scalable platform

Our Approach
CMS Migration
We transitioned Big Box from Drupal to WordPress, providing a more intuitive, secure, and future-proof backend. This shift immediately addressed their vulnerability issues and removed barriers for internal content management.
Experience Design & Messaging Evolution
Instead of just replatforming, we reshaped Big Box’s digital experience around their customer. We streamlined the navigation, organized content into a more skimmable hierarchy, and prioritized clear calls to action. We also layered in trust-builders: local awards, third-party reviews, and easy-to-compare product/service tables.
But the real unlock? Brand voice.
Working closely with the Big Box team, we developed messaging that was fresh, playful, and unmistakably “them.” Taglines like “Box it. Store it. Ship it. Love it.” and “Storage doesn’t have to suck.” injected life into the brand, aligning their tone with their customer-centric values.
Visual Identity Reset
Alongside messaging, the site’s look and feel got a major glow-up. The updated design balanced clean, modern UX with a personality that felt welcoming, energetic, and professional, reflecting Big Box’s evolving brand.
